Volunteer WV Bloggers
After you’ve been assigned a username and password by the blog administator, log-in to the “back end” of the Volunteer WV Blog at: www.volunteerwvblog.org/wp-admin
After logging-in, click the ”Write” tab on the left side of your monitor or “Write a New Post” at page right.
To write a blog post enter a ”Title” and under “Post,” begin writing your content. As a general rule, do not copy and paste text from an external document, as formatting problems often occur. However, you can select the “Show/Hide Kitchen Sink” button, and a drop-down will appear that allows “Paste as Plain Text” and “Paste from Word” options.
To avoid losing your work, click “Save” on occasion as you are writing your blog post.
To format your blog post, highlight text with your cursor and use the various formatting buttons such as: bold, italics, bullets, numbering, justify left, justify center, justify right, etc.
To place links to other Web sites/pages, highlight text and select the “Chain” button. You’ll then be prompted to enter a “Link URL” (this is a Web page’s exact address), a “Target” (select ‘Open in New Tab’), a “Title,” and a “Class” (ignore this one). If you’d like to add photos, video, or audio to your post, select the respective tab beside “Add Media,” and you’ll be prompted to upload or link to such media.
To tag your blog post so that search engines may locate it, enter words relevant to your post under the “Tags” heading.
To categorize your blog post, select the relevant “Categories” under this heading. Though you can add many categories, please select no more than six categories.
Once your post is completed, click “Submit for Review” and after it is approved by a blog administrator, it will appear on the Volunteer WV Blog.
