Hey everyone! I just wanted to brag about our wonderful groups. This year we have a few new comers and a few old friends. So I thought that I would start with what each group is doing this year and what they hope to accomplish in the coming months.
Shady Spring High School has three groups in one ( AP Biology, HSTA, and Envirothon). They are doing two different projects. The first AP Biology and HSTA are going to be doing water monitoring along Cherry Creek. The Envirothon team is going to put together a poster that can be put out around the community and at the local libraries discussing alien invasive species and their interaction within the watershed.
Our middle school group is working on their trail and doing beautification projects around the middle school. They have already planted blubs and are looking forward to working on the trail again.
Another group that is a returner is our boy scout troops, they are working on geocaching again, but also doing stream cleanups by kayaking down Piney Creek and stopping to clean up.
Now we get to brag on our new groups. We have four new girl scout troops, ranging in age from 9-16. They are planning lots of different projects from rain gardens to water monitoring. They are super excited about getting the opportunity to do things with water and get to participate in such a wonderful experience.
So soon we will have updates about all of our wonderful groups. Hope everyone else is having as much fun as we are with our new groups and old friends.

I’m interested in knowing what type of invasive species of plants you all are dealing with in your watershed?
