Friends of Deckers Creek’s Youth Advisory Board teamed up with West Virginia University Landscape Architecture students to build 36 rain barrels which YAB will sell this holiday season to raise funds for future service projects. The 50 gallon barrels were donated by the Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority. YAB purchased brass fittings and stenciled the FODC logo onto the barrels for added flair. YAB hopes to perfect their barrel building skills and lead community workshops on rain barrels and water conservation this summer.

Contact Friends of Deckers Office in Morgantown at (304) 292-3970.

If you do not live near Morgantown, many times you can find rain barrels in the spring at your local home improvement stores. Also check out other watershed organizations, 4-H, or local extension service in your area as they may be offering make your own rain barrel workshops.
