A few inches of snow didn’t keep a group of Concord Universitystudents and AmeriCorps VISTA staff from heading to their MLK Day of Service project in Blacksburg, Virginia. Working in coordination with Virginia Tech, the students volunteered at a daycare center in Blacksburg doing a playground renovation project.
The project included a special breakfast with a speaker on diversity, working on the service project, a time of reflection on the experience, and a time for socialization among the volunteers. The students worked to convert a sandbox area into a dirt playing area for the children of the daycare center.
